Rick Tananis has committed himself to excellence in dentistry as a student, a practitioner, and as a teacher. He received his bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s College, his dental degree from Temple University and a fellowship in oral medicine from the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Tananis began the practice of dentistry in 1983. He has served as an instructor at Temple Dental School, Christiana Care Health System, Delaware Technical and Community College and as a clinical assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He is also a member of the ADA, and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Oral Medicine.
After practicing for 30 years in Philadelphia, he took over the practice of Dr. James Robert Carmean in Laurel, Delaware. In doing so, he was able to fulfill his lifelong ambition to live near the Atlantic Ocean. He and his wife Linda have no children but are close to their 4 nieces.

I walked in as an emergency visit patient and the office staff happily helped me get in to see the dentist immediately. The dentist and his entire staff were caring and most professional. I have been seeing Dr T for over a year. High professional and a great guy. The front staff is great , extremely friendly. I highly recommend Kim the Hygienist, very friendly and does a great job on my teeth , Assistant Carissa is so nice a polite.
